Portrait

Predrag Kovacic was born in the year of 1985 in Sremska Mitrovica.

In 2004 he has finished “Ivo Lola Ribar “ high school, social-linguistic department, in Sremska Mitrovica.
He has graduated on Academy of Arts of Novi Sad, department for sculpture, in the class of professor Mladen Marinkov.

He attended an international meeting about marble "Kornarija workshop" in Marusici, Istria, in october 2009.

He was prize-winner of foundry Stanisic and Fine Art Academy in 2009.
Member of SULUV (Association of the Artists of Vojvodina) since 2012.

He has been involved with NGO “Initiative Youth Center” from Sremska Mitrovica since its beginnings, in department of culture.

My sculptures are liberated of evident symbolism and associativity, but, at the same time, their form is abstracted, thus providing space for modern sculpture to interact individually with every observer. As a creator, I'm austere to observer and I don't let him/her to grasp into my visions and notions right away. If they want to do that, they can do it by carefully observing my work; if not, they can find themselves in poetics of every sculpture.

Experts in stone mythology or not, we can all be amazed and truly impressed, if we allow ourselves to be carried away by its structure. Only if we correlate like this to the oldest known art material, we can have a true “collaborator” in modeling process. If we go even further and start to consider its structure, its organic and inorganic contents, we might discover a profound bond between sculptor and material. That gives us a possibility of absolute honesty in a “life-creating” process – in process of creating a sculpture
